Need a new watch band but not sure what size you need? Read our guide here and switch out your old straps for our durable, high quality, sustainable watch straps.

How to measure my watch strap size?

Watch lugs are the pieces extending from the top and bottom of the case where the strap or bracelet connect to the watch case.

To find out what size watch strap you need for your existing watch, you need to measure the gap between the two lugs. When measuring the lug gap it is really important to make sure you have the internal dimensions, not external.

The inner measurement in mm will be the correct watch size that you need. Our watch straps are currently available in 10mm, 16mm, 18mm and 20mm.

Changing your vegan watch straps could not be any easier!

Why animal leather should be avoided

Traditional animal leather is made using the skin of animals such as cows, cattle and sheep. Leather undergoes a tanning process which is deeply damaging to the environment which results in serious water pollution that is toxic to natural environment. The byproducts of this tanning process is Chromium saturated waste water- toxic and carcinogenic- is released into waterways and poisons the eco-system.

Many believe that animal skin leather is a byproduct of the dairy and meat industry, and is simply a way to avoid waste. Sadly the leather industry is highly profitable with cow skin being one of the most valuable parts of the animal.  This means that animals are being killed in the name of fashion.

A deeply disturbing PETA investigation revealed that leather used to make small items such as watch straps found that  an estimated 2 million cats and dogs are killed annually for their skins!

Vegan Leather a kinder alternative

You do not need to own a Hurtig Lane watch to be able to use our watch straps. Our watch straps will fit most watch brands.

Recently bought vegan leather and cactus leather straps to add to a long list vegan straps I’ve bought over the years (probably over 30) and the Hurtig Lane straps are some of the best quality I’ve experienced – really soft and supple and show off my watches in the best possible way. I wish there were a little longer as I have larger wrists, but they’d be perfect for average size wrist. I know I’ll be back for more!

@Cam thanks so much for the feedback, we will indeed be looking at straps for smaller wrists.

My wife loves her vegan strap, but it’s just a bit loose for her slim wrist. We will punch another hole into it, but going forward do you have plans to produce shorter length straps?
